We live in Florida where Parasites are a real issue, Tornado and hurricane warnings are frequent and often times nothing seems to get cold even when they say they will get cold. Well now…its going to get cold…Down to 35 degrees and I know everyone says cold is sub-zero weather but being from Florida my goats have never experienced this before. below 60 is a very different thing for us. Will they adapt? More hay, more shelter, less wind. That is what I know. What else should I take into consideration especially for my little ones?

So today I fed everyone as normal. We are in Florida so cold weather here is rare. But we sometime dip into the 30s and 40s and today was the day. I separated my babies, bringing them inside to sleep. I know some of my fellow goat owners and breeders up north routinely keep their herd in negative degree weather and their goats are fine. The shelters are adequate and warm but I can’t help but worry. I worry that they will be cold. Specially two of my little ones, Merlin and Pym who have not bonded with anyone yet. They are the most vulnerable.

I just want them to be safe. So here are the issue we face in Florida. Weather about 35 degrees. If my goats have not experienced this before I worry about it. What about you?
